1) Ordering and shipping

a) How do I order

 In simple terms, you place your order on line and we send you a shipping kit within a few days. When you are ready, take your CD's out of their boxes, pop them on the supplied spindles and call a local rate UPS number and ask them to pick the box up. Your CD's are then returned to us on a next day basis and will be sent back to you together with the resultant MP3's in a few days.

b) What is in the shipping kit?

Its a stiff cardboard box and has spindles (the type blank CD's come on) for your CD’s, bubble wrap for protection, full instructions and return mailing labels. Alternatively, we can ship packaging to suit your jewel cases.

c) How do you ship?

Via insured City link next day service only.

d) Where do you ship?

Our service covers all of mainland and off shore <placew:ston>Europe with our partners, UPS - so wherever you are, we can help!


e) Are my CD's covered by insurance?

Yes - to a value of 10 pounds sterling per CD for loss or damage.

f) Why shouldn’t I send you the CD boxes?

Because they are heavy and would add significantly to the shipping, but more so because they are very fragile and too easily broken - our spindles provide much better overall protection for your CD's.

g) How long does the service take?

From arrival, typically 7 days. Any delays are notified at once.

h) Is it safe to order on line?

Much safer then in a restaurant! We use 128-bit secure SSL encryption to protect your credit card details at every stage.

i) Can I drop my order in to you?


j) Do I get my CD's back?

Of course - only with your CD's in your possession are you entitled to enjoy your music on other formats.

 

2) The Service

a) Do I need a PC?

Not at all - if choose our direct to device service all of your music will be out directly on the device and you will not need a PC. If you wish to transfer your music by yourself, then you will of course need a PC or a Mac

b) What type of PC/Mac do I need?

Any PC bought over the last four years will suffice - look out for any specification above a Pentium II, 200 MHz. However, you will need a DVD drive to read the discs we send you, and /or a spare USB port should you use our external hard drive option.

c) Do I have space for all of my CD's on my PC?

Audio files do take up a lot of space. As a very rough guide 100 CD's will take up 10 GB (10,000 MB). To check if you have the space Windows 98/XP users should double click 'My Computer’, right click your hard drive icon, click properties and windows will tell you how much free space you have. If you don't have enough, we recommend you take our external hard drive option.

d) What do I get my files back on?

DVD's which are read just like normal software discs. You also have the option of receiving your collection directly onto your device, or on an external hard drive unit.

e) How many albums come on each DVD?

As a rough guide and based on the most popular encoding options, about 50.

f) What about 'Copy protected' CD’s?

Such CD's will not be converted to MP3’s, as this is breach of copyright restrictions. As the customer you will be charged for these discs and notified of this at the time.

g) And 'home made' CD’s?

Only commercially released CD's can be converted to ensure a consistent quality level.

h) And scratched CD’s?

We will do our best to transfer these CD's, but cannot promise complete them all - your quality report will let you know of any such CD's on their return

h) And what about my vinyl/record collection

As audio specialists we can transfer your collection to your device - as you can appreciate this is a very time intensive process and as such more expensive than CD's - but please do call us and we will provide an exact quote.

i) Do you keep a copy of my music files?

No. All copies are written directly to your delivery format and are not at any time held or retained on our server. You hold the only back up of your collection.

 

3) Your music files in action

a) I have received my DVD's - how do I get them to my music device?

Pop the DVD in your drive, and view it with Windows explorer. Select all of the files and folders, select copy and paste them into a folder on your local hard drive. Then just use your music device software to transfer them in the usual manner to your device. Don't worry - full instructions are included with your order.

b) What about larger jukeboxes servers?

We provide you with all software to allow you to transfer your music.

c) What about all of my new CD's - how do I convert them?

We include free software with your order, which will make it a simple task to convert one CD at a time as and when you purchase them.

d) Can I share my files?

Absolutely not. This is against copyright law. Please read our About Us page for our policy on this and our terms and conditions on your responsibilities.

 

4) Technical Details

a) What is your standard format and bit rate?

Our standard encode is carried out at 192 kbps Stereo MP3 using the Lame encoder

b) I know my audio, can I select my options?

Of course. You can select from FLAC, WAV, MP3, AAC and Windows Media at your choice of bit rate. Please see our Encoding Options page for more details. If you are unsure, we recommend you leave it at the standard options.

c) What is the file name structure?

Files are stored in Artist folders, then by albums in the following naming convention:

X:\Artist\Album\01_Trackname_artist_album.mp3

d) What fields do you fill in to the MP3 header?

We fill in all available fields including track, artist, album, genre and year of release.
